We were given a task to walk around in Polytechnic area and find Traffic Signboards and Road Markings, as well as road furniture as given in the instruction below:

Team METCALF & TRESAGUET

Task : Find 3 Regulation Signboards, 3 Warning Signboards and 3 Information Signboards

Team TELFORD & McADAM

Task : Find 3 Guidance Roadsigns, 3 Roadstuds / dileanator / Reflectors and 3 Road Furnitures / barriers etc

REFLECTION

The activity was quite enjoyable as we got to walk outdoors and identify in-person the types of signboards, road markings and road furniture. However, the number of devices were limited due to area of study. Since we only walked in the polytechnic area, it was difficult to find various types of device. The lecturer reviewed all the photos and briefed us on the types, uses and materials for road signs and devices.

Mindmap - Chapter 6

Monday, 18th February 2019

For this class, we were given worksheets in Google Classroom and was instructed to complete the mindmap on Chapter 6 as shown in the photograph below.

We were allowed to find our answers through Google and eNotes. The information was easily accessible via smartphones.

After completion, we had to post the completed mind-map on Google Classroom.

REFLECTION

By the end of the activity we were able to summarize all the important information on Chapter 6 : Traffic Signs and Road Furniture. Because the information were gained first hand, we experienced some researching activity which gave us a broader perspective of the topic.

REFLECTION

The activity was very interesting and beneficial as we were forced to remember the definitions and terms from Chapter 3 (Flexible Pavement) and Chapter 4 (Rigid Pavement). It also made us perform great teamwork as we were highly motivated to win. By the end of the activity, we were able to understand and remember some terms from the topics questioned.

Reflection
The activity was interesting as we were given the chance to conduct our own research to fill in the blanks of the mindmap. Besides that, it was also a very good method to simplify our notes as well as fullfilling the syllabus.
